Tropical cocktails and tiki bar theater sparked the imagination of Americans starting in the 1930's, then blossoming into full-on obsession in the 50's. Learn the history of these intriguing cocktails and why they rose in popularity after WWII launching the TIki-bar craze of the mid-20th century. We'll also take a look at why these recipes are having a renaissance now, and how high end cocktail bars are using fresh fruits, real coconut cream and classic cocktail making technique to elevate these delicious drinks to their former glory. Gone are the days of the syrup drenched blended daiquiri from a can. These drinks are mid-century classics with exotic flavor profiles that harken back to their Polynesian, South Pacific and Hawaiian origins. Made with a skilled hand, these balanced tiki-cocktails will transport you to a warmer, sunnier place.
