Haven’s Kitchen, a cooking school, café and event space located in Chelsea, is hiring cooking instructors. The recreational cooking school at Haven's Kitchen is devoted to teaching people how to cook using intuition and finding inspiration from local, seasonal produce. Our hope is that students take the lessons and incorporate them in their own kitchens. Each class is structured to provide a hands-on experience in a warm and welcoming environment. Students are encouraged to ask questions and immerse themselves in the process of cooking.

Working Hours
Preparation of curriculum including recipes and requisition form, and about 4 hours on-site on scheduled class date.
What we're looking for:

  • Proven experience in teaching and/or curriculum or program development.
  • Ability to teach a range of cuisine styles from fresh pasta to Middle Eastern mezze-style meals.
  • Commitment to teaching about sustainable food practices, and the importance of local and seasonal foods.
  • A dedicated teaching philosophy and style.
  • At least 2 years of back of house food preparation experience with the skills to prepare high-quality dishes.
  • Warm and outgoing with the ability to be patient, flexible and attentive.
  • High standards for punctuality, organization and cleanliness.
  • Dedication to making Haven's Kitchen a hospitable space.

    Haven’s Kitchen, a recreational cooking school, café and event space in Chelsea, is looking for a graphic design intern to work on projects related to all parts of the business. The intern will help research, develop and design projects such as a brand and style guide, marketing materials and visual prototypes for communications. Additional responsibilities may include: contributing editorial content for our website and social media venues; research and development for packaging; developing and organizing photography sessions as well as organizing and instituting and managing a file system for photos and design materials.

    The candidate must have a passion for food, style and design. S/he must be capable working discreetly under pressure and scrutiny. Interested applicants must provide a consistent schedule with a 20 hour per week commitment and and must own their own computer with Adobe Creative Suite programs.


  • Conceptualize and design digital and print materials such as flyers, brochures, posters, signs, logos, print and web images.
  • Editing, organizing and tagging photos.
  • Organize and prepare files for web and print.
  • Research on related projects such as packaging and product design.
  • Assist with creating content for social media.
  • Assist with web updates and other administrative organizational projects.


  • Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop is a must.
  • Proficiency in Wordpress and basic HTML and CSS.
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of graphic design.
  • Can create and edit vector art as well as experience in photo re-touching.
  • Familiarity of social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and its respective languages and styles.
  • An acumen for direct and clear communication and a talent for collaboration.
  • Willingness to manage and work through ambiguous tasks and be self-motivated.
  • Experience in the food and hospitality industry is appreciated.
