Harissa Butter Sweet Potatoes

We’re obsessed with the aroma of our Zippy Harissa as it infuses the butter in this easy sweet potato side dish. The warm spices and guajillo chiles are activated when they hit the pan, and once poured over the sweet potatoes create a symphony of sweet, savory, warming, and comforting flavors. The herby bed of yogurt and pepitas they’re served on makes for a super unique blend of textures, too.

Chef Tip: Roasting the potatoes before grilling activates to sugar and starches in the potatoes, and ensures they’re fully cooked. Just a kiss on the grill is all you need to get those nice, smoky char marks.


  • 2 large sweet potatoes

  • Olive oil

  • Salt

  • 4tsp butter

  • 1 pouch Haven’s Kitchen Zippy Chili Harissa

  • 1 cup of Greek or Persian yogurt

  • 1/2 bunch of parsley, chopped

  • 1/2 cup of toasted pumpkin seeds


step1-Harissa Butter Sweet Potatoes

Cook the potatoes by pricking them with a knife a few times and roasting in a preheated, 350 degree oven for one hour. Let cool for about 10 minutes while you heat up the grill

Step2- Harissa Butter Sweet Potatoes

Cut the potatoes into wedges and toss with olive oil and a pinch of salt

Grill the potatoes on each side to create char marks

Meanwhile, on a cooler part of the grill, melt the butter and whisk with a squeeze of Harissa

Remove the potatoes and drizzle with the harissa butter

Step 6- Harissa Butter Sweet Potatoes

Serve on a bed of yogurt and garnish with the parsley and pumpkin seeds
