Tangy BBQ Burgers With Crispy Onions

Traditional BBQ sauce is a little much for a cheeseburger (in our humble opinion), but our lighter, brighter Tangy BBQ sauce is a perfect match for the rich flavors of the meat and cheese. Crispy onions just take these burgers to a new level. Make it vegan with substitutes if you’d prefer!

Chef’s Tip: You can certainly buy crispy onions, but the caramelized flavor and texture of homemade fried shallots is a whole other level. Thinly slice about 10 shallots and toss in flour with a pinch of salt. Shake off excess flour. In a shallow pot over high heat, add enough cooking oil to come up about a 1/2 Inch, and once it shimmers, add the shallots and fry until golden. Remove from oil and drain on a paper towel, season with salt.



Step 1

Mix ground beef with salt and ¼ pouch of Haven's Kitchen Tangy BBQ Sauce. Form into 4 equal patties

Step 2

Cook burgers in a pan, grill pan, or grill: Don't flip them until they easily release (it should be about 4 minutes per side). Once the meat is almost cooked through (125°F ), add the cheese and cover the pan to melt the cheese and finish the cooking

Step 3.

Meanwhile, toast your buns and prep your onions

When you're ready to assemble, start with your toasted bun, top with a cheesy patty, a generous squeeze of Haven's Kitchen Tangy BBQ, then finish with the crispy onions and your top bun
