How to Cook a Speedy Thanksgiving Dinner

Your guide to cooking for Thanksgiving when you're short on time!

We can’t all spend several days in advance planning for Thanksgiving.

You might be reading all kinds of interesting recipes and thinking to yourself, “I just don’t have the time!” Thankfully, there are some alternatives to give you less time in the kitchen and more time with your loved ones. A speedy Thanksgiving doesn’t have to compromise on quality.

There’s nothing speedier than a one-pan Thanksgiving side dish. Whether it’s a casserole, a sheet pan side, or a one-pan potato dish, our one-pan Thanksgiving sides save you time on prep and dishes.

Our Favorite Sides:

This Cheesy Chimichurri Broccoli is a do-it-all casserole. It’s hearty, it has vegetables, and, most importantly, it’s on the table in less than 30 minutes. If you have time, make this one a day or two in advance. It’ll save you loads of time on the big day, and casseroles are always better the next day anyway.

Our Sheet Pan Fall Vegetable and Halloumi Salad adds a twang of umami to your savory Thanksgiving table. Fall squash quickly transforms into a hearty warm salad with minimal prep needed.

Mashed potatoes, who? Spice things up a bit with our Crispy Parmesan Potatoes. As the name suggests, they’re crispy, cheesy, and ready in a flash.

To Turkey or Not to Turkey?

As far as the turkey goes, you have a few options. If you’re willing to break with tradition, consider a roast chicken- it’ll be done in under an hour, the mess is cut in half, and you’ll have a juicy chicken every time. If your heart is set on turkey, try spatchcocking it! Cutting out the backbone will reduce the cooking time significantly, and you’ll be left with all the crispy skin of your dreams.

Lastly, you’ll want to think about dessert. Simply put- outsource! No one will notice if you use store-bought pie. Everyone will just be happy to be together enjoying the holidays. If you've read this far and you're thinking "Not only do I not have the time, but I've never even cooked a Thanksgiving meal before" we've got you covered- Read our guide on How to Cook Thanksgiving for the First Time.
