Honey Sesame Fried Feta

Yes, you read that right: Fried. Feta. If you haven’t breaded and pan-fried cheese yet, trust us! It sounds decadent, and it is decadent! But life is short, and this honey sesame fried feta is waiting to knock your socks off, so cheese the day!

Chef Tip: We’re using the standard breading procedure here, were you’re coating something in a wet ingredient (in this case, egg) and then dredging in a dry mixture. To keep things easy, we recommend always keeping one hand for touching the egg, and your other hand for the dry mix so your fingers don’t end up getting breaded, too. Using tongs can break the feta, and you want to keep these slabs intact.


  • 1 (10-12 ounce) block feta cheese

  • 1 large egg, beaten

  • 1/2 cup Panko breadcrumbs

  • 2 tbsp black and white sesame seeds

  • Glug of olive oil

  • Zest of 1 lemon

  • Golden Turmeric Tahini Sauce

  • Honey



Whisk the egg in a shallow dish. Add the panko to a separate shallow dish, toss in sesame seeds and a pinch of salt and mix


Dip the Feta in the egg, turning to coat, remove and allow any excess to drip off. Dredge the Feta through the Panko, turning to coat and pressing gently to adhere


Heat a glug of olive oil in a medium skillet set over medium heat. When the oil shimmers, add the lemon zest and cook 30 seconds


Add the Feta and cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side, until golden brown.


Meanwhile, drizzle Golden Tahini or Zippy Harissa on a serving plate


Place the Feta on the sauce and drizzle with honey
